  • The hackberry was strongly revered as a protective tree. According to folklore, the hackberry's round fruit was believed to grow only in the moonlight and that a person who slept under a hackberry would be protected from evil spirits. Due to the hackberry tree’s deep roots & broad shape, it is also considered a powerful grounding tree. It is believed that sitting under a hackberry tree can guide one through times of transition, inspire creativity, and persuades one to not only be at their personal best but to have strength in doing so.
