With a little TLC, your piece will last a lifetime and beyond. Hand wash with mild soap + water before drying immediately. Never put your item in a dishwasher and avoid submerging it in water. We understand that the first scratch can be the hardest to accept but our intention is to create heirloom-quality pieces that tell a story. Simply enjoy your piece and let time + use slowly reflect the beauty in the history of the piece.

We recommend that you refresh your oil finished items every few months or as required to keep them nourished and looking and functioning at their best. When you start to notice the surface looking matte or raw, simply apply a thin coat of food safe oil or wax and allow it to absorb overnight. In the morning buff off any excess with a soft cloth. This will result in a lovely satin finish.

In regards to allergies: the use of kitchen items made from a nut-bearing tree is extremely low risk for someone with a tree nut allergy. However, we cannot guarantee that there is zero risk of allergy. If you have a nut allergy, please also use caution when selecting a food-safe oil when refreshing your kitchen items as many contain walnut oil.

Light can either fade or darken the color of certain woods over time. This cannot be prevented or reversed but avoiding exposure to strong light will slow the process. Contact with water may cause your piece to lose some of its surface luster. If this happens refresh with a food safe oil or wax as noted above. Note that certain foods (e.g. beets, berries, etc.) can result in stains. While these will slowly fade or at least blend in over time, if you want to prevent this it is best to avoid serving such foods using your piece.
